2012 Winter & Spring L.I.F.E. Guide Available Online November 1st

The Leisure Services Department will release the 2012 Winter & Spring L.I.F.E. Guide online on November 1st. The guide features community recreation programs, special events and park facilities in Bellevue.

Copies of the guide will be directly mailed to Village residents sometime around November 15th. Programs featured in the catalog run from December 2011 until May 2012.

Registration will begin for Village residents on December 1st. Non-residents will be able to register for programs on December 15th.

Tire Bandit Loose In Bellevue

A tire bandit is loose in the Village of Bellevue, illegally discarding old, used tires along streets and other public areas. The Department of Public Works has been busy over the past few weeks picking up the junk tires.

Public Works and the Brown County Sheriff's Department officials are asking residents to be vigilant of any individual(s) dumping used tires illegally on village streets. Information can be reported to the Brown County Sheriff's office at (920) 448-4200.

Bellevue Fire Captain Earns State Award

The Village of Bellevue Fire Department is pleased to announce that Captain Dave Dellemann will receive the "Fire Inspector of the Year" award by the state Fire Inspectors Association for 2011.

Captain Dellemann has dedicated himself as a consummate professional in the fire service. He has exemplified what it means to be an inspector, fire prevention professional, educator, and company officer. The Village is proud to have Captain Dellemann a part of our organization.

Captain Dellemann will receive his award at the upcoming association banquet the last week of October in Green Bay.

Bellevue Firefighters Raise Money to Fight Breast Cancer

Village of Bellevue firefighters recently helped raise funds for the Breast Cancer Family Foundation. The crew of firefighters were able to raise over $1500.

The Breast Cancer Family Foundation is a local non-profit organization that provides education in the community, specifically to students in the middle schools, high schools and colleges.

Their presentation focuses on all cancer awareness, early detection and prevention of breast cancer and overall healthy lifestyle behaviors, to include diet and exercise. The foundation reaches over 5000 students each year in our local schools and 1000’s of others in our community through businesses and other community events.

Each student is provided with brochures on these topics as well as a healthy snack.

Trick or Treat Trail A Fun-Filled Fall Day!

This year’s annual Trick or Treat Trail was held on Saturday, October 15th at Josten Park from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. Photos from the event can be downloaded at the Village's Flickr site.

Nearly 400 youth enjoyed the day's activities, which included a trick or treat trail walk, pumpkin patch, clowns, Brown County Fire Safety House, face painting, bounce house, craft projects, obstacle courses and much more!

The event is organized annually through the Bellevue Leisure Services Department, East-Town Optimists, Firefighters Association, Lion's Club and Junior Jets-4H. Over 30 volunteers assisted with the event putting in more than 125 hours.

Event organizers solicit business sponsors each year to support the event. This year, the following businesses helped make the event a resounding success:

Bellevue's Summer Camp Wins State Award

The Village's Leisure Services Department will receive the Silver Star for Program Excellence Award at the 46th annual conference & trade show of the Wisconsin Park and Recreation Association in Green Bay on November 1-4th.

More than 500 delegates from around the state attend the conference, which gives park and recreation professionals a chance to exchange and learn from each other while discussing common interests.

A highlight of each year’s conference is the awards presentation, which honors individuals, departments and organizations throughout Wisconsin who demonstrate excellence in many areas throughout the previous year.

More than 50 applications were received for awards in eight categories, and awards are judged by juries of peers. The Village of Bellevue has won the award four other times; most recently in 2009.

The Village won the award under the Youth Programs category for its Summer Camp program.

Prescription Drug Collection Day Offered

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the D.E.A., is sponsoring a Prescription Drug Collection Day on October 29th, 2011 from 9am-1pm.

Bring your old prescription drugs to 3100 Eaton Rd, Bellevue Public Safety Building, for collection and proper disposal. Please do the following for efficiency:
  • Empty all pills from their original containers into plastic bags
  • If bringing any liquids be sure that the liquid is secured in a container and separate from pills
  • Personal information is NOT needed, just drop and go

Village Board Meeting for October 12, 2011

The Village Board of Trustees will meet on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 for a regularly scheduled meeting. The Board will review and possibly make action on the following items:

PUBLIC HEARINGS
A. (6:31) PDD 2011.3 - Consider/Discuss/Act on the request by Steve Bieda, Mau & Associates, LLP, petitioner, on behalf of Moski Corp, Owner, for approval of a Planned Development District (FINAL) for approximately 29.44 Acres consisting of 214 Units of Multi-Family Residential located on the west side of Huron Road approximately 2,000 feet north of Eaton Road (Parcel No. B-33) and swapping the existing R-3 – Multi-Family Residential District zoning on Parcel B-29 with the existing B-2 – General Business District zoning on Parcel B-33.

NEW BUSINESS
A. Discussion/Possible Action: Ordinance No. O-2011-18: An Ordinance amendment to modify Chapter of Village Code 9.13 adopting state law by reference.

B. Discussion/Possible Action: 2012 Compost Site Operations Plan: Trustee Kaster requested that this item be placed on the Village Board agenda. Village staff has prepared an operations plan for the compost site.

C. Discussion/Possible Action: Financial Management Plan: Review of the Village’s staffing plan and capital projects. The draft document will be presented for Village Board approval by Ehlers, Inc. at the November 9th regular meeting.

The Village of Bellevue is governed by a five-member Board of Trustees consisting of a Village President and four (4) Village Trustees. The Village President is elected every three (3) years.

All positions are elected at large. Two Trustees are elected in the even numbered years with the other two Trustees being elected in the odd numbered years. The Village Board is responsible for overseeing all activities and functions of the Village.

Meetings are typically held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at the Public Safety Building / Village Hall (3100 Eaton Road).
